The infinitely recombining, seemingly indestructible stars have perfected planets throughout the universe, doing so with efficiency and without regard for the will of the inhabitants. It is the reason they exist, and for eons they have done so without any effective resistance.

     Earth is well on its way to perfection when the stars encounter an opposing force they could never have anticipated.

     But will that opposing force - four slacker teenagers, a close-knit family, a retired professor, two low-level government bureaucrats, a hot-headed southern militiaman - be able to outwit the stars and save the world?

     If they ask the drunk... maybe.
